Kirstenbosch Concerts: Vusi Mahlasela & Jabulile Majola

Prepared to be serenaded by the music of the renowned South African singer and songwriter Vusi Mahlasela as he joins forces with rising star Jabulile Majola for a powerful performance this weekend.

The duo’s Kirstenbosch Concert seeks to fuse tradition, activism and artistry.

Mahlasela’s soaring songs of freedom and hope meet Majola’s fresh, dynamic sound, creating a symphonic dialogue across generations.

Majola will take to the stage this weekend, just weeks before he is set to make his highly anticipated debut at the 23rd annual Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on March 27.

Where: Kirstenbosch Gardens.

When: Sunday, February 22, from 5.15pm.

Chinese New Year Market

As the Year of the Horse was commemorated during Chinese New Year celebrations earlier this week, this market will showcase Chinese culture.

It will feature delicious Chinese food, Chinese arts and crafts, traditional Chinese tea and Chinese acupuncture.

There will also be live entertainment, as well as Dragon & Lion Dance, Taichi and Zumba.

For wellness, explore ancient Chinese medicine while practitioners offer traditional treatments such as acupuncture, which holds a great number of health benefits. 

There will also be a children’s area where youngsters can enjoy jumping castles, a petting zoo and a dog show.

Where: Central Park in Century City.

When: Saturday, February 21, from 9am.

Cape Town Furniture Week

Cape Town Furniture Week features a programme of exhibitions, installations, talks and tours that invite both professionals and the public to discover and engage with contemporary South African design.

This year, Cape Town Furniture Week will take place across several locations, showcasing around 80 South African brands and designers.

Where: Venues across Central City, De Waterkant, East City, Lower Gardens, Kloof Street, Woodstock, Salt River, Observatory and Paarden Eiland.

When: Runs until Saturday, February 21, from 10am on all days.
