Joburg’s cultural calendar heats up with ‘Joseph’, ‘Marabi’ and an Eagles tribute concert

"Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" is returning to Joburg due to popular demand.

This production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s universal hit is presented by Pieter Toerien together with the Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy (LAMTA).

The cast includes Dylan Janse Van Rensburg as Joseph, Lelo Ramasimong as the narrator and Christopher Jaftha as Pharaoh, with young performers playing the brothers and other key roles. 

The fast-paced musical combines a wide variety of musical styles such as, “Go, Go, Go Joseph”, “Any Dream Will Do”, “Close Every Door To Me” and “One More Angel In Heaven.”

Marabi

This South African musical theatre classic is making a grand return to The Market Theatre at the end of the month to launch the theatre’s year-long 50th anniversary.

Directed by Arthur Molepo, who was part of the original cast, it is set in the tough Doornfontein yards of the 1930s.

“Marabi” tells the story of a family of first-generation black migrants to Johannesburg who have had to move to the city, leaving behind a peaceful and predictable life.

When: From January 29. 

Hotel California - The Eagles Experience 

This vibrant live concert and stage show pays tribute to The Eagles’ extraordinary talent and timeless discography.

It will feature some of the group’s biggest hits including “Hotel California”, “Desperado”, “Take It Easy”, “One of These Nights” and many more.

Where: The Joburg Theatre.
