The "Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" is back in the headlines again, but this time it is not about soft drama or social media shade; it is a full pause, reset and rethink situation behind the scenes.

Production on season 5 of the Disney+ reality series was briefly halted in late March following serious allegations of domestic violence involving cast member Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen.

Things escalated after "TMZ" released resurfaced footage from 2023 showing an incident where Paul allegedly threw chairs at Mortensen while a child was nearby.

The situation quickly moved from online chatter to industry response. Disney confirmed that filming was paused, stating they were “not moving forward with the new season at this time” while they focused on supporting those involved.

Around the same period, Paul’s separate appearance on "The Bachelorette" was also scrapped by ABC, showing just how widely the ripple effects were being felt across productions.

Matters deepened when Mortensen later filed for a protective order against Paul in March, adding another layer to an already complicated situation. However, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office has since confirmed that they will not be pursuing charges.

Now here is where things shift again. According to "People", season 5 is still moving forward, but with a major change.

Both Paul and Mortensen will no longer be part of the cast when filming resumes. That decision alone signals a noticeable reset in the show’s direction, especially given how central their storyline had become.

The reality series returns with its newest season, continuing the lives of Utah-based influencer mothers who turned MomTok fame into a full-blown cultural talking point.
