New year, new shows, and yes, people, we’ve got a lot of reviewing to do.
First up on the radar: “The Beauty”, the latest international thriller from none other than Ryan Murphy. Murphy is basically the queen of stylish, scandalous and often shocking TV.
“The Beauty” dives straight into the dark underbelly of the fashion world. International supermodels are dying in gruesome, mysterious ways, and FBI agents Cooper Madsen (Evan Peters) and Jordan Bennett (Rebecca Hall) are sent to Paris to figure out what is going on.
Picture "Totally Spies" meets the stuff you wish you didn’t know about what goes on behind closed fashion doors.
Things get even freakier.
The team uncovers a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into living visions of perfection but, spoiler, the consequences are terrifying. I don’t think anyone would be getting freaky after seeing this.
The plot thickens with The Corporation (Ashton Kutcher), a shadowy tech billionaire guarding a miracle drug called The Beauty, and his lethal enforcer, The Assassin (Anthony Ramos).
Oh, and then there’s Jeremy (Jeremy Pope), a desperate outsider caught in the chaos, searching for purpose while the agents race across Paris, Venice, Rome, and New York to stop a threat that could literally change humanity.
Why this is so perfect right now? We are living in a time obsessed with appearances, social media perfection, and influencer culture, where filters, followers, and flawless posts dominate our timelines.
While the show has supermodels dropping mysteriously and billionaires scheming, it also mirrors how obsessed we’ve become with looking flawless online.
Think about it: every selfie, every story, every filter feels like a test. Miss a post, get fewer likes, or aren’t tagged in the right way? Suddenly, you’re “less than.”
Murphy’s series exaggerates that anxiety, turning it into a literal high-stakes game. But underneath the chaos, it’s a mirror for our times. Teenagers and adults alike live in a world where comparison is constant, confidence is fragile, and self-worth can hinge on a single double-tap.
The series forces the question: what would you sacrifice for perfection? Your health? Your morality? Your sanity? With Murphy at the helm, it’s commentary wrapped in glamour, suspense and just enough horror to make you never want to touch another Insta filter again.
“The Beauty” premieres Thursday, January 22 on Disney+, with a three episodes launch. The 11-episode first season drops weekly on Thursdays, with a double-binge finale for the last two weeks.
Time to clear your calendars this one’s going to be deliciously dark.
