The Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) has confirmed that award-winning vocalist Tutu Puoane will perform at this year’s festival, taking place on 27 and 28 March 2026 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
Widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most accomplished voices of her generation, Puoane brings with her a career shaped by musical excellence and a deep commitment to her craft. She is the recipient of two South African Music Awards and three South African Jazz Awards, recognition that reflects both her consistency and impact within the jazz community.
Having spent many years living and performing abroad, Puoane has worked with musicians from around the world, which has broadened and enriched her sound. Her voice carries both warmth and authority, and her performances are known for their honesty, subtle humour and connection with audiences. Each show feels personal, grounded in storytelling, and genuine musical exchange.
Her return to a major South African stage is long overdue, and her appearance at the CTIJF marks a significant homecoming moment. Audiences can expect a performance that reflects her international journey while celebrating the depth of her South African heritage. She will be joined on stage by Sphelelo Mazibuko on drums, Shane Cooper on bass and Ewout Pierreux on piano.
The 23rd edition of the CTIJF continues to bring together leading local and international artists for a weekend that remains one of the continent’s premier live music experiences. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster with Buy Now Pay Later options on Loot.
