Tannah (born Tannah Levick) is a performer with a passion for storytelling who brings authenticity to every stage.
“I love telling stories that connect with people,” she said.
Since graduating from the Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy, she has appeared in productions such as “We Will Rock You”, “Mamma Mia!” and Disney’s “The Magic Box” world tour.
She is currently preparing for a role in “Cats”, continuing a journey defined by discipline, emotion, and dedication.
Tannah’s latest release, “All The Lovely Things”, marks a new chapter in her career, highlighting her voice beyond musical theatre and into the personal and expressive world of her own music.
“‘All The Lovely Things’ was a really collaborative effort, and I think that is part of what makes it special,” she said.
“At its core, the message is about not accepting the bare minimum in a relationship. I want listeners to feel empowered, to remember their worth, to put themselves on a pedestal and to expect the best for themselves."
"It is also a fun, cute way of expressing that idea. The song has a lightness to it, but underneath there is a real reminder to choose people who give you all the lovely things, not just the basics.”
Her background in musical theatre has shaped her approach to music in meaningful ways.
“Musical theatre has helped me so much because it really takes storytelling and craft to a new level. The discipline, technique and emotional connection you learn in theatre definitely influence how I approach my music.
"At the same time, I have had to learn when to step away from my musical theatre training, because my music is a different part of me.
"It is a different genre, a different sound and a different expression. Sometimes I need to let go of the perfect musical theatre approach so I can explore something more raw, personal and authentic to who I am outside of the stage.”
Tannah’s debut EP, “Phases”, reflects this exploration.
“I wanted the EP to be called ‘Phases’ because it explores all the different phases I have been through. Not only emotionally, but musically as well. My sound has gone through phases, and each song represents a different era or a different side of me.
"The creative process was a lot of experimenting, growing and figuring out who I am as an artist."
"Every track has its own personality and its own story, which I think reflects your 20s perfectly. You go through so many changes and discover new parts of yourself all the time. That is what people can expect. An honest mix of moments, feelings and versions of me captured in one project.”
Balancing theatre and personal music projects is still a work in progress.
“I would not say I have mastered the balance yet. I am definitely still learning. A show like ‘Cats’ is incredibly demanding and takes over your day-to-day life, so finding space for my music is something I am still navigating. I look at them as two separate worlds. My music is almost an escape from my full-time musical theatre life."
"It is where I get to tap into a different side of myself and express things I cannot always express on stage. I am still working on balancing everything, but that is part of the journey. I am figuring it out as I go, and I love that I get to explore both sides of my artistry.”
Looking forward, Tannah hopes ‘All The Lovely Things' and her EP will define the next phase of her career.
“Looking ahead, I hope ‘All The Lovely Things’ and my EP will help people see my story. On stage, I am always telling someone else’s story, but this music is the most me I have ever been. I want people to hear the songs and understand who I am, what I have gone through, and the phases that have shaped me."
"This EP feels like the start of showing my voice and my artistry in a more personal way, and I hope it opens the door for me to keep growing, writing and sharing my own stories with the world."
