South African singer Nobuhle has released her latest single, “Umusa”, a collaboration with Kabza De Small that blends spirituality, soul and the emotion of Amapiano into a compelling track.

Nobuhle was born and raised in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal. She is a Music and Drama graduate from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and is now focused on creating spiritual music that connects with people.

Speaking to “Independent Media Lifestyle”, Nobuhle said she has been working with De Small since 2022.

“We’ve created songs like ‘Liyangishonela’ and ‘Xola’ together over the years, so it’s no surprise that ‘Umusa’ came together naturally.”

The song is a prayer, a plea to God for strength and guidance.

“One of the things I love about working with Kabza is the space we meet each other in - a spiritual space rooted in African drums, improvisation and a shared love for music,” Nobuhle said.

Nobuhle is also preparing to release another new single, “Amakhosi”, with Casswell P this Friday.

In November, she will release “Izintaba”, featuring Young Stunna, ahead of her full album rollout. Her upcoming album, “Imvula Rebirth”, will feature contributions from Nkosazana Daughter, Stunna, Oskido and others.

At its core, “Umusa” is a song of supplication, a call for protection, strength and grace during difficult times.

Nobuhle’s vocals move through De Small’s layered production, combining deep log drums, ambient synths and Amapiano rhythms. Her voice carries both vulnerability and power, threading through the track like prayer through silence.

“This track is special to me,” Nobuhle said. “It’s more than just music; it’s a spiritual moment. I wanted to create something that could comfort people and give them strength when they feel like giving up.

"That’s what ‘Umusa’ is: a song for anyone going through something, a reminder that they are not alone.”

Working with De Small, she said, was a transformative experience.

“Working with Kabza has been one of the most inspiring moments of my career. His ability to create not just beats but moods is something I’ll carry with me forever."

"He listens deeply, works intentionally and makes space for the music to breathe. He’s humble, collaborative and completely devoted to the sound. Our session felt like a shared spiritual experience.”

As fans embrace "Umusa", Nobuhle hinted that more is coming.
