Eight years in the making, R&B star Miguel has announced the release date for his long-awaited fifth studio album, “Caos”.

The project is scheduled to drop on October 23, which also marks the singer’s 40th birthday.

The new album will be Miguel’s first full-length project in nearly eight years, following his 2017 release “War & Leisure”.

The project included 12 tracks that featured guest appearances from Kali Uchis, Travis Scott and J. Cole. “War & Leisure” also entered the Billboard 200 at number nine.

In the years since, he has shared EPs “Te Lo Dije”, which dropped in 2019, and “Art Dealer Chic 4” in 2021; however, fans have since been anticipating a complete body of work.

Hints of the project began surfacing earlier this year when the “Adorn” singer started posting teasers on his social platforms that referenced “Caos”, the Spanish word for chaos.

Those posts set the stage for what has now been confirmed as the title of his new album, officially kicking off its rollout ahead of the October release. In a statement, Miguel explained the theme behind “Caos”.

“To rebuild, I had to destroy myself. That is the core confrontation of Chaos. Through my personal evolution, I learned that transformation is violent. ‘Caos’ is the sonic iteration of me bending that violence into something universally felt,” he said.

The album is produced under ByStorm Entertainment and RCA Records.

While the full tracklist has yet to be revealed, Miguel has already previewed the title track through his own S1C.LA platform, where he first shared it with fans.

The song opens with a Spanish monologue before unfolding into a more experimental sound, giving listeners a taste of what to expect.

It’s reported that those who want to listen can access it by submitting their email address for a unique code to the site.

The platform is also expected to give fans rare insight into the “personal and universal chaos” that inspired the project through music and visual storytelling.

Miguel’s upcoming release has been described as his most personal and daring work to date, a reflection of both artistic and personal transformation.

A lead single from the album is expected to be released in the coming weeks ahead of the full release.
