A third instalment of the popular franchise, "Camp  Rock", is currently in production for Disney Channel and Disney+.

Filming started in Vancouver this week.

To add to the excitement, the brothers, Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas will return to their iconic roles as Shane Gray, Nate Gray and Jason Gray, respectively, of the fictional band, Connect 3.

Demi Lovato, who portrayed Mitchie Torres in the first two films, will also return to take on the role of co-executive producer.

In a video shared by Disney+, Nick says, "Camp Rock, it's so good to be back. It's time to head back to camp."

The video also included clips from the set, but fans were more concerned when they noticed Lovato was not in the clip.

@comfortdemi wrote: "Camp Rock is NOTHING without Demi Lovato."

Another fan said, "No Demi, no movie."

A third fan commented: "WHERE'S DEMI? SHE IS THE REAL CAMP ROCK."

Alongside the return of fan-favourite characters, the cast of "Camp Rock 3" has some exciting newcomers.

Maria Canals-Barrera will reprise her role as Connie Torres, Mitchie’s mother, and a fresh group of campers includes Liamani Segura as Sage, Hudson Stone as Desi, Lumi Pollack as Rosie, Malachi Barton as Fletch, Casey Trotter as Cliff, Brooklynn Pitts as Callie, Ava Jean as Madison and Sherry Cola as Lark.

According to an official statement, "Camp Rock 3" will follow Connect 3 as they embark on a major reunion tour after losing their opening act.

This leads them back to Camp Rock, where they aim to discover the next big talent.

As young campers compete for a chance to open for their favourite band, they will face rising tensions, trial friendships, surprising alliances and romances.

Originally, the "Camp Rock" franchise kicked off in 2008, showcasing a musical summer camp for talented teens.

The first film tells the story of pop idol Shane Gray, who accidentally overhears Mitchie's incredible singing voice.

In the sequel, "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam", the characters return, only to find themselves in some fierce competition against a new camp across the lake.

Both films are loved by fans and are considered among the top 10 Disney Channel Original Movies ever made, filled with unforgettable music.

The upcoming film will be directed by Veronica Rodriguez, with a script written by Eydie Faye.

Tim Federle, who is known for "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series", will executive produce "Camp Rock 3". The choreography will be handled by Jamal Sims.

Lovato shared her enthusiasm about the new film on her Instagram Story, writing, "Another one but make it camp!! Good luck to this next class of campers."

The Jonas Brothers even shared a fun video of themselves on set, lip-synching lines from the original film.

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said: "'Camp Rock' is an important part of the Disney Channel Original Movie legacy, with unforgettable music, energetic storytelling and characters that live in the hearts of fans to this day.

"Bringing it back with Kevin, Joe, Nick and Demi is such a full-circle moment, and we can’t wait to reintroduce this world to a new generation."
