As South Africa's iconic TV drama "Generations: The Legacy" enters season 34, new and old characters are set to spice things up.

Local actors Sparky Xulu and Bheki Sibiya are set to join the cast while veteran actor Ronnie Nyakale reprises his role as Cosmo Diale.

Sibiya will be playing G-Wagon. He’s described as "loyal to those he loves" but also "simple yet complicated".

"He’s a survivor and a hustler. Solution finder, even if the solution is questionable. Loves women and sees himself as a catch. He’s no fool, he’s no idiot, he’s quite intelligent in his own raw manner. When pushed, he is very dangerous," read a statement from the channel.

“Joining 'Generations: The Legacy' really does feel like coming back home. Having collaborated with the SABC on different productions over the years, stepping onto the set of the country’s longest-running soapie is truly special," said Sibiya.

He added: "It’s a real honour to be part of a show that has been such an important part of South African television and of so many people’s lives. I’m excited to bring my experience and passion to a story that continues to capture the hearts of viewers across Mzansi."

But Sibiya isn’t the only one making waves. Xulu is also bursting onto the scene as Sotshalomtimande Ngwenya.

His character is all about high standards and believes that everybody should measure up.

With a good middle-class upbringing, he seems like the kind of guy you want to impress - even if his confidence runs so high he sometimes thinks he’s right, even when he’s not.

"It’s so surreal and definitely a huge accomplishment off my bucket list to be honest. And what’s even crazier is that I get to share the screen with some of the characters I grew up watching.

"It is a blessing for me to be welcomed in the way I was by everyone, and the care and patience of my co-stars have been one of my highlights. I feel like a kid in a candy store, honestly, like it actually happened."

Xulu will appear on screen on November 6, with Nyakale making a return on November 26 and Sibiya joining on December 15.

• "Generations: The Legacy" airs on SABC1 from Monday to Friday at 8pm.
