The coming days will be critical for both Tory Lanez and his supporters as they await further developments regarding the attack and the ongoing discourse about his original conviction.

Tory Lanez’s father, Sonstar Peterson, has spoken publicly for the first time since the shocking news of his son's stabbing at a California prison.
Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, was hospitalised earlier this week after being violently attacked whilst serving a 10-year sentence for shooting fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion.
At a press conference held on Wednesday, May 14, Sonstar described the harrowing events that led to his son being airlifted to a medical facility.
He stated that Lanez, who suffered multiple stab wounds - including a staggering 14 across his body - was in dire condition upon arrival at the prison hospital.
“All he knows is that he couldn’t breathe. He could hardly speak,” Sonstar recounted. “Upon which the officer turned around, and looked at him, and said, ‘No, we got to take him. He has to be airlifted'.”
Thankfully, Sonstar reported that medical professionals acted swiftly, and by Tuesday, May 13, they had removed the tubes used to drain fluid from Lanez’s lungs.
“They took them out because they said he is recovering remarkably,” he assured supporters.
Lanez’s condition had improved to the point where he was not only breathing independently but was also speaking, albeit through the pain.
According to an official update posted on Lanez’s Instagram account, he suffered seven stab wounds to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head, and one to the left side of his face.
Despite the severity of his injuries, the message conveyed a sense of hope: “Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through.”
As details surrounding the attack continue to emerge, the alleged assailant, identified as Santino Casio, has been placed in restrictive housing pending an investigation.
Casio is already serving a life sentence for serious convictions, including second-degree murder. His past also includes two significant prison offences related to the use of deadly weapons.
The prison’s response to Lanez’s attack has raised concerns about safety protocols for inmates, particularly those already facing serious charges.
While Lanez focuses on recovery, his legal team is preparing to challenge the claims made during his trial.
At the press conference, representatives of Lanez asserted that Megan’s ex-best friend, Kelsey Harris, has allegedly admitted to firing the gun, while Lanez had attempted to intervene.
Without any forensic evidence tying Lanez to the weapon used in the shooting of Thee Stallion, his defence team has labelled the entire situation a setup, drawing parallels to high-profile cases like that of the Menendez brothers.
The coming days will be critical for both Lanez and his supporters as they await further developments regarding the attack and the ongoing discourse about his original conviction.
