Chris Brown has taken to Instagram to show his support for Tory Lanez, posting “FREE TORY!!!!!” following the Canadian rapper’s brutal stabbing in prison

Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion. He was reportedly stabbed 14 times by another inmate, Santino Casio, and suffered two collapsed lungs.

Brown’s call for freedom comes after Peterson’s team, “Unite the People”, posted a flyer that has since been removed.

The flyer was an announcement about the press conference Peterson’s representatives held, alleging new evidence that could potentially prove his innocence.

It reads: “WE'RE EXPOSING THE TRUTH. NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN EVIDENCE will be revealed, which could reshape public understanding of one of the most high-profile legal battles in recent years."

"We will also address the recent STABBING INCIDENT and multiple urgent matters. THIS IS NOT JUST A PRESS CONFERENCE -THIS IS A CALL FOR JUSTICE.”

During the conference, the rapper’s team claims that Thee Stallion’s former best friend, Kelsey Harris’s bodyguard, Bradley James, has come forward, stating that he heard Harris admit to shooting Thee Stallion.

The outpouring of support from Brown is no surprise, given the two artists’ long-standing friendship and frequent collaborations.

However, Brown’s statement has sparked a heated debate, with some defending Peterson and others criticising Brown’s involvement due to his past controversies.

Some have argued that “garbage always supports garbage,” referencing Brown’s history of violence and abuse allegations.

X user @Captivating_BB commented: “Mind you, he abused Rihanna. We’re not shocked.”

In October 2024, Investigation Discovery (ID) released a documentary based on Brown’s violent past,Chris Brown: A History of Violence”.

The documentary, part of ID’s “Break the Cycle: No More Abuse” campaign, examined the long history of violence that the “Under the Influence” hitmaker has been involved in.

It detailed his past back to his troubled childhood and examined the lasting impact of the cycle of abuse, while also posing the question of how Brown maintains his stardom despite a public record of violence.

While Brown is known and loved for his talent, he is also known for his domestic violence case involving his ex-girlfriend, singer Rihanna, which dates back to 2009.

He pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, and was sentenced to five years' probation, which required him to do community service and undergo domestic violence counselling.

Since then, the 35-year-old singer has faced a series of legal issues involving violence, including allegations of physical and sexual assault.

The incident has sparked a divided response, with some advocating for Peterson’s freedom and others believing justice has been served.

As the Canadian rapper’s team’s attempts to prove his innocence continue, Brown remains adamant to support his friend.
