Bugatti presents a very special unique piece of the Chiron Super Sport.
When Bugatti makes a single piece for a customer, this is already an event in itself. Because the car manufacturer, whose eventful history dates back to 1909, always conducts historical research on his own behalf. What this costs, you can hardly imagine even with the latest custom-made design from Molsheim in Alsace.
A customer has had the Chiron Super Sport refined. According to media reports, the super sports car with 1600 hp and a maximum speed of 440 km/h already costs well over four million euros. For this special unique piece, the chief designer even flew to the Guggenheim Museum - only to hit the color perfectly.
Bugatti bundled the individual designs for customers in its department Sur Mesure (French for "custom-made") in 2021. Chief designer is Jascha Straub, he works closely with customers to make their wishes for their dream car a reality.
A little curious: The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport "57 One of One" is even the first Bugatti for the customer. But according to the press release, she has been dreaming of the sports car for 20 years. The impetus was her encounter with the groundbreaking Type 57 SC Atlantic.
"I remember the day as if it was yesterday," says the client, who remains anonymous. "I visited the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, and there he, one of only three remaining vehicles, stood all alone on his podium. I fell in love with the car from the first second." Two decades later, the dream came true. Her husband, himself a Bugatti owner, gave the 70-year-old the trip to Molsheim for her birthday to design her special Chiron Super Sport.
Designer Staub was able to fulfill a heart's desire with the order itself. "I have dreamed of reinterpreting this icon for years," he says to the Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic.
"So I already had my own ideas of how I could honor the most elegant car ever designed." There was no competition for both in terms of color: It had to be exactly the silver blue of the original in the Mullin Automotive Museum. However, the specifications for this special paint had apparently been lost.
According to Bugatti, Staub therefore traveled to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. There, the Atlantic could be seen in a temporary exhibition. The designer brought a color sample to Spain and resunched it with the original under different lighting conditions.
"It had to be absolutely authentic," says Staub. "We really wanted her to feel the same feeling every time she sees her vehicle as she did that day 20 years ago." Despite the price, the "57 One of One" is not in a garage or even a museum. The customer has already explored the west of the USA with him on a Grand Tour, says Bugatti.
