Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has moved to reassure travellers and airlines that jet fuel supplies at Cape Town International Airport remain stable.

This comes after one fuel supplier encountered temporary constraints linked to outstanding matters with the South African Revenue Service (SARS), affecting four airlines and prompting concerns ahead of the G20 Summit.

However, in a statement on Tuesday, ACSA said the situation posed no risk to its G20 aviation plans and that alternative arrangements were already in place to ensure uninterrupted operations.

"Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) acknowledges recent reports from the fuel industry body FIASA regarding the distribution of Jet A-1 fuel at Cape Town International Airport (CTIA)".

"We wish to reassure stakeholders and the public that fuel supply at CTIA remains largely stable, is not part of the G20 operational planning area, and poses no risk to our G20 aviation plans".

ACSA added that the affected airlines had been given alternative options, including uplift of fuel from OR Tambo International Airport from 19 November.

"To ensure uninterrupted operations, the fuel industry has implemented a solution: the impacted airlines may uplift fuel from OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA), subject to prior arrangements. This solution will secure additional fuel supply from Wednesday, 19 November 2025, onwards for the four airlines".

"ACSA continues to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to manage the situation proactively and to ensure minimal impact on airport operations. The ACSA airports remain ready to host the G20 Leaders Summit with Jet Fuel and all other requirements met, and will be communicating the state of readiness with the media later in the week"
