Asha Singh: from small-town beginnings to influential content creator
Asha Singh, a dynamic 27-year-old marketing professional and content creator, embodies the spirit of resilience and creativity.
Originally from the quaint town of Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal, she has transcended her small-town beginnings to carve a niche for herself in the bustling suburb of Sandton, Johannesburg.
Her journey is not merely a tale of professional success but also one of personal growth, ambition and the tireless pursuit of passion with every step taken.
Singh's venture into the world of content creation began in 2017 when she launched her blog, "Life by Asha Singh”, a platform that documents the authentic reflection of her personal journey.
Initially, it was started to build an online writing portfolio but her blog has evolved into a travel-focused lifestyle platform that resonates with many South Africans.
“This year I became a mom to a beautiful baby boy. I'm passionate about my marketing career, fitness, travel and making the most of every moment.
“I enjoy showcasing hidden gems in South Africa and beyond. Because I cannot travel all the time, I share various aspects of my life to ensure my audience gets a holistic view of my experiences” she explains.
Her recent outdoor escapades and culinary explorations serve as a testament to her belief that life should be lived to the fullest.
Pursuing the mantra of continuous learning, she combines her passion for fitness, travel, and digital marketing in her everyday life.
Singh balances her demanding nine-to-five job in social media with her creative outputs, creating content that informs and engages her audience.
"I love that I can get paid to be creative and explore our beautiful country — and beyond! Every new experience brings the opportunity to meet amazing people and share my adventures," she says.
Singh's journey as a digital creator has been remarkable. Among her standout experiences is her lavish journey on Rovos Rail — the luxurious train experience she describes as “breathtaking”.
The evolution of her brand is not merely a testament to her professional prowess but also a reflection of her personal milestones.
Winning the "Women of Wonder" award in 2022 is a symbol of her dedication to representation and empowerment, values that lay at the heart of her content creation approach.
Despite the competitiveness that pervades the digital space, Singh’s advice to aspiring content creators is simple yet profound: “This industry is super competitive nowadays and some of the most valuable ways you can make yourself stand out are by being easy to work with, building positive relationships with other creators and brands, and most importantly, creating the kind of content you feel inspired to create.”
Looking ahead, Singh aims to deepen the valuable content she shares with a particular focus on travel tips and guides that have become invaluable resources for her audience.
“’Life By Asha Singh’ constantly evolves as I pass through different stages of my life. It’s all about connecting with my audience on a deeper level,” she reflects.
With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and currently pursuing a postgraduate diploma in Marketing Management, there’s no stopping Singh.
After obtaining her MBA, she dreams of expanding her influence and making a difference in the dynamic landscape of content creation and marketing.
