INYATSI Group has reported a significant financial milestone, generating more than R8.2 billion in turnover and creating more than 6 000 jobs.
This achievement is detailed in the company’s annual report, which also underscores the substantial economic impact of the group.
The group’s consistent growth and expansion across various sectors has been pivotal in generating employment opportunities. Projects such as the Fairview Shopping Mall in Manzini, the hub of eSwatini, are expected to create an additional 500 jobs, further enhancing regional employment prospects.
The latest annual report reveals that Inyatsi Group has contributed more than R600 million to the government in taxes and dividends from its various companies.
The company’s wage bill stands at a staggering R622m annually, with more than R50m paid out in salaries each month. Additionally, Inyatsi pays its 2 000 subcontractors a collective total of more than R5bn annually.
Inyatsi has secured new tenders worth more than R6bn across six African countries, including eSwatini, Malawi, Somaliland, Uganda, Zambia, and Mozambique. The group’s influence extends beyond Africa, exporting skills and products to Europe and Asia, with more than 600 emaSwati employed by Inyatsi abroad.
The group’s diversified investments span telecommunications, construction, agriculture, insurance, mining, and health sectors, showcasing its expansive reach and significant role in driving economic growth within the region and beyond.
Established in 1982 in eSwatini, Inyatsi began as a construction firm and has since diversified into various sectors, including mining, telecommunications, financial services, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, media, and property management. The company now operates in 11 African countries.
Inyatsi Construction, a key division, undertakes infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, water treatment plants, and commercial buildings in South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, and Zambia.
The company also focuses on sustainable practices, including environmental management and renewable energy projects, and holds multiple ISO certifications.
Mitchelo Shakantu, who joined Inyatsi in 2009, has been a significant figure in expanding the company’s influence. Under his leadership, Inyatsi has entered various industries, including healthcare and telecommunications.
Notable projects include the Waheen Market in Somaliland and Makhosini Drive in Mbabane, highlighting the company’s involvement in regional infrastructure development.
The Covid-19 pandemic presented challenges for Inyatsi Group, particularly in project execution due to lockdowns and supply chain disruptions. Compliance with Covid-19 safety protocols impacted productivity and efficiency.
However, the group's diversified portfolio across sectors like construction, mining, telecommunications, and healthcare helped mitigate the overall impact.
Inyatsi Group continues to explore growth opportunities in the post-pandemic landscape, adapting its strategies and leveraging its expertise across different industries.
