Enjoy intimate music sessions and fine wine at ‘The Routes of Sound’
The Routes of Sound is set to bring a unique, late-winter music experience to Stellenbosch this weekend.
This bite-sized weekend event is directed by Brett Bailey, a playwright, artist, designer, play director, festival curator and the artistic director of the group, Third World Bun Fight.
It promises to be an intimate acoustic journey as it showcases talented local artists across atmospheric venues like the historic Manor House and the Old Wine Cellar.
Groups of 30 people will rotate between cosy performance spaces where they’ll enjoy stripped-down, unplugged music sessions, with a glass of Spier’s award-winning Creative Block wine in hand.
This event focuses on high-quality listening experiences, featuring music that might not be heard elsewhere.
Meanwhile, The Routes of Sound highlights the two unique routes that audience groups will follow as they will each visit three out of six live acts before coming together for a final performance.
Bailey explained: "The goal is to offer people a special evening of journeying and listening, opening their minds to moody music and powerful words from the Cape."
The gathering will feature the likes of Reza Khota with Jonno Sweetman, Lungiswa Plaatjies and Joshua Nemaire, alongside Emmaleen Tangleweed, Jabulile Majola, Laurie Levine, Siya Kawane, Wren Hinds, and Mzi SA.
In addition, as part of Spier’s commitment to the arts, this event supports their Growing for Good initiative, which fosters positive social and environmental change.

Relive the golden days of The Beatles through a nostalgic concert filled with classic tunes which is set to take audiences back to some of their most cherished memories.
At the heart of this celebration is Vernon Castle, a seasoned performer known for his captivating voice and stage presence.
The musician’s career has seen him performing in South Africa and beyond, bringing audiences to their feet with his renditions of legendary hits.
With over 30 years of music experience, Castle’s career began on the cabaret scene in Cape Town, which is renowned for its rich jazz, soul and R&B culture.
In 1978, he recorded his first single with EMI, which still receives local radio play in the Western Cape. He then released his first album, “The Other Side of Me,” in September 2009.
Meanwhile, his love for The Beatles has made him one of the go-to artists for reviving the magic of the beloved British band. With a commanding stage presence, Castle makes it easy to lose yourself in the music as he effortlessly delivers the songs you know and love.
Castle's experience spans across decades, having performed a variety of genres from pop and rock to jazz and blues. Fans are drawn to his soulful interpretations and passion for music.
Backed by an incredible four-piece band, Castle will be joined by René Johnson as a support act, adding even more depth to the evening's entertainment.

Let’s Groove Tonight Concert
Producer Jayson Jay King returns to the stage with an incredible cast as they pay tribute to American R&B legends.
Expect show-stopping performances from Cape Town's finest at the show, including Sumaya Hendricks, Kashifa Blaauw and Mujahid George.
They will be joined by Gakeem Roman, Cashe Arayna Smith, Shadley Schroeder and Belinda Qaqamba Fassie.
The concert will feature iconic songs like Aretha Franklin's "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman," Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" and "Let's Stay Together," and Patti Labelle’s powerful "A Change is Gonna Come."
Destiny's Child and Beyoncé are also set to get a nod, adding some modern flair to this celebration of R&B greatness.
