Each of the four competitors in the 2025 Fortuner Challenge powered by Quartz Engine Oil will be teamed up with four different heroes to tackle the tough challenges during the two days of the event.

Teamwork and communication between each hero and competitors will be the key to success if the winner wants to drive home in a new Toyota Fortuner GR-Sport.

The heroes are chosen for their skill and ability in their respective disciplines as well as their overall fitness and ability to solve tough mental and physical challenges.

This year’s heroes are:

Willard Katsande

Willard Katsande is a former professional footballer and Kaizer Chiefs legend.

Katsande, who was known for his tireless work rate in central midfield during his playing career, made over 300 appearances for the Amakhosi over a ten year period. This Kaizer Chiefs legend is competing in his first Fortuner Challenge, and in 2025 he’ll be looking to add the title of Fortuner Challenge Champion to his already impressive trophy cabinet.

Saood Variawa

Saood Variawa is a racing driver for the Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa motorsports team. The youngest hero in Fortuner Challenge finished in the top 20 at Dakar 2024 at just 18 years old, and now he is set to take on the Fortuner Challenge. Variawa began racing at the age of 5 and since then he’s been racking up the victories both on the track and off-road and in 2025, is looking for Fortuner Challenge glory.

Victor Seketete

Victor Sekekete is the inspirational captain of the Toyota Cheetahs rugby team. Standing 1.96m tall, this giant of a man led the Toyota Cheetahs to become the Currie Cup champions in 2023. Seketete always leads from the front on the field, and in 2025 he will be looking to dominate in his very first Fortuner Challenge.

Nicole Horwood

Nicole Horwood is an equestrian superstar and one of the best show jumpers that South Africa has ever produced. Her list of accomplishments include being a four-time SA Derby winner, winner of the Triple Crown, two-time SA Champs winner, three-time Outdoor Grand Prix winner, 2020 President’s Cup winner and a World Cup Series winner. 2025 will be Horwood’s first Fortuner Challenge and she’s ready to take the crown of Fortuner Challenge champion.

Comedian, Nicholas Goliath, and Toyota Cheetahs rugby player and Fortuner Challenge veteran, Oupa Mohojé will host the event this year and keep competitors and viewers of the live feed entertained. They will also feature in the videos advertising the Fortuner Challenge 2025.

Goliath is a well-known stand-up comedian, a sought after MC, entertainer and an actor.

Mohojé is a professional rugby player who currently plays for the Toyota Cheetahs and has played 19 test matches for the Springboks.
