Nkateko “Kay” Mahange from the hit reality show “The Ultimatum South Africa” has shared his painful journey involving his former partner and the mother of his child, Khanya Nqolase.
In a heartfelt statement on Instagram, Mahange detailed the troubling incidents that led him to fear for his son’s safety, shedding light on the darker side of their relationship. He is now seeking custody of his son.
Mahange shared that his relationship with Nqolase became toxic and harmful.
“I faced repeated episodes of physical and emotional ill-treatment, including incidents that endangered Qhawe’s life.
He elaborated on a violent argument where Nqolase allegedly resorted to stabbing him while he held Qhawe in his arms.
“The attack left me physically wounded but my primary concern was for Qhawe ... This act of violence was a stark reminder that her behaviour was spiralling out of control and it was no longer safe for my son to remain in such an environment.”
The reality TV star alleged that Nqolase's unpredictable and volatile behaviour had left him no choice but to seek custody of their son for his well-being.
“I do not wish to harm or humiliate Khanya, but I cannot stand by idly while my son’s livelihood and safety is at stake.
“I have gathered evidence of these incidents including medical records, photographs and testimonies, not out of malice, but to demonstrate to the court that I am capable and prepared to provide for Qhawe with the stability and love he deserves.”
Mahange hoped that his story would inspire other fathers facing similar situations.
“I encourage you to stay strong and faithful. Our children deserve our unconditional love and protection ... I write this not to seek sympathy or to harm anyone, but to speak sincerely as a father who deeply loves his child.
“My hope is for healing, accountability and, ultimately, a brighter future Qhawe,” he shared.
Meanwhile, netizens expressed their sadness at the situation and offered support to Mahange.
Multi-award-winning transgender activist, Yaya Mavundla, wrote: “What a toxic love story. Joh! Wishing you well.”
@lovegugulethu commented: “We all can say, we witnessed that very same behaviour from her on TV. Glad you speaking up and took action. God will see you through.”
@bongy_with_a_y said: “👏 It was brave of you to make the decision of sticking around for the sake of Qhawe. Some men would’ve used the mother’s toxicity as a ticket to becoming deadbeat fathers.
“May God give you the strength to continue being your son’s champion and may you heal from it all ❤️.”
Independent Media Lifestyle reached out to Nqolase for comment but none was received at the time publishing.
