Valentine's Day is coming and it’s time to get those plans together, whether you are spending the day with friends, a significant other or yourself.

If curling up on the couch in front of the TV then here are some romcoms to lighten the mood.

“Not My Type”

Actress Lorraine Moropa, last year hinted that South African viewers would be seeing more of her on screens and this Valentine’s day February 14 they will. The seasoned actress stars in romcom “Not My Type” which will be available on the streaming platform Showmax.

Moropa stars as Letsatsi, with Lulama Nyembezi (The Queen, House of Zwide) as Thimothi, a former believer who turned bad boy after experiencing church pain. Nyembezi is making his way up the acting ranks, from acting in “Gqeberha: The Empire” to short series “The Bunker” and “House of Zwide”.

Seasoned theatre actor Moagi Kai is a part of the cast and stars as Mhlonishwa, a fellow Christian who Letsatsi believes is her answered prayer.

“Soos Pynappel Op Pizza”

Renowned funnyman and South African Film Television Award (SAFTA) winner Schalk Bezuidenhout takes on the role of a single chef Waldo who dislikes fellow chef Becca

SAFTA nominee Kate Pinchuck co-stars as Becca, in Afrikaans and English respectively romcom.

Waldo and Becca end up at a wacky singles retreat in the mountains, fate keeps dumping them headfirst, together, into one crazy scenario after the other, forcing them to reexamine what they think they know about love.

Rising star Morné Strydom writes and directs the quirky romcom, which was filmed at Silvermist Wine Estate. The film is produced by multi-award-winners Nagvlug Films and One More Cup of Coffee, owned by Strydom and producer Aisha Williams.

“Gebokste Liefde”

Annelize Frost makes her feature film directorial debut with the knockout Showmax Original romcom “Gebokste Liefde”. The movie is produced by Advantage Entertainment.

SAFTA winner Tarryn Wyngaard stars as divorced single mom Suma-Lee. When she’s fired from her job as a fashion designer, she reluctantly joins a boxing gym, where she finally finds the courage to stand up for herself and fight for what she wants: love.

Jandré le Roux is her boxing coach, while model Roche Killian plays her ex, Dries. Dries is getting married again – to a model. Two-time Silwerskerm winner and three-time SAFTA nominee Erica Wessels shows off her comedic side as Suma-Lee's boss in the movie.
