More dark secrets and twisted truths will surface during the third season of “The White Lotus”, which will premiere in February.
The award-winning anthology series, created by Mike White, has become a worldwide hit since the first instalment was released in July 2021.
The first season was nominated for 20 Emmys and won a whopping 10, including for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
With its star-studded cast, which originally included Jennifer Coolidge, Theo James, Meghann Fahy, Sydney Sweeney, Aubrey Plaza and Leo Woodall, among others, the drama comedy series follows the guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain whose interactions are affected by their various psychosocial dysfunctions.
“Deadline” has reported that those who will be part of season three are Natasha Rothwell, who will be reprising her role of Belinda from season 1, as well as newcomers Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Dom Hetrakul, Tayme Thapthimthong and Christian Friedel, among others.
In addition, Blackpink’s Lisa Manobal, is also one of the high-profile faces joining the series.
Meanwhile, the publication explained that Miloš Biković, who was cast in the latest offering in a supposed small recurring role of a Russian named Valentin, a flirtatious yogi and the White Lotus hotel’s Life Enhancement Mentor, left the role in February.
His departure is believed to be as a result of the Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticising HBO in regards to the casting of the Serbian-Russian actor who they claimed supported Russia in the war against Ukraine.
He was subsequently replaced by “Shadow and Bone” star Julian Kostov.
It was also reported that Coolidge, who won back-to-back Supporting Actress Emmy Awards for playing Tanya McQuoid, is the only other cast member apart from Rothwell to appear in more than one season so far.
While her character did not survive the Mediterranean waters at the end of season 2, several reports suggest that she could still make an appearance in the new season, possibly in the form of flashbacks.
Meanwhile, season 3 of the hit show will be set in Thailand after the previous season took place in Italy as well as Koh Samui, Phuket and Bangkok, while season one was filmed in Hawaii.
White also told “Entertainment Weekly” that apart from the action centred at another White Lotus resort property, the new season will also feature a multi-generational group which will include “a patriarch, a female corporate executive, an actress, a couple of mothers including a country club wife, a misfit and a yogi”.
“It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier,” he added.
I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing … I’m super excited about the content of the season.”
