Miss SA 1997 Kerishnie Naiker took to Instagram to share recent updates regarding her recovery journey after she was involved in a freak accident in May 2024, which led her to not be able to walk.
In July 2024, she shared details of what led to her getting injured and said that she was accidentally tripped by a tourist that was taking pictures on the stairs trying to capture the lighthouse at Cape Point, which resulted to her falling down two steps.
The pharmacist and health activist has been sharing with her fans her recovery journey, which has been inspiring and posted a video of her doing physiotherapy.
On the video, she included details of when the accident took place, which was on May 1, she then had surgery on May 6 and the video was taken on May 16.
“Injury resulting from the negligence of someone taking photos. Let’s live and embrace reality than to be obsessed with social media and forgetting about what truly matters. #grateful - it could have been worse,” she wrote.
The 45-year-old shared another video where she was at a beach and she shared that she is now able to walk, furthermore she feels grateful.
“Eight months since surgery and while I may not have full range of motion yet, I’m deeply grateful for God’s mercy and grace. I felt privileged to be able to stand. Walking again albeit baby steps, is a gift,” she wrote.
Her fans commented on her posts, wishing the public figure a speedy recovery.
