The “snap back” culture has many celebrity moms on choke hold as there are so many expectations from them to look good after having a baby.
Many mothers are barraged with the pressure to return to their pre-baby bodies.
American rapper, Cardi B gave birth a few weeks ago to a baby girl and she is already sharing snippets of working out.
Cardi B, who is now a mom of three, replied to an X post which said that it has barely been a week since she gave birth but already she is going to the gym.
The rapper said, “This is my third baby and postpartum is a little different from my first two. I’m not doing heavy lifting, no muscle training, squatting, none of that.”

She said for one to avoid postpartum depression, one needs to keep one’s mind busy and she is staying active and working.
“But you know what is funny? Y’all dragged me down when I gained 15 pounds because I was 5 months pregnant but now y’all fake concerned and wanna talk about pressure??”
The “snap back” culture has not only set unrealistic beauty standards for celebrities but many women as well.
After giving birth, women need time to rest and heal their bodies. However with this beauty standard and expectation, many women tend to overwork their bodies to get their old bodies back or a flat stomach.
Many women tend to forget that this is just a social media expectation and in reality, it takes time for your body to heal. Instead of trying so hard to get back your pre-baby body, you should rather focus on nurturing your body and taking it easy.
Motherhood is hard to navigate in and of itself, but much more in an era of likes and comments. So as a mom prioritise yourself and doing things that make you feel capable.
