In his new Netflix comedy special, “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was...”, the Oscar-winning actor takes a hilarious jab at the bizarre online conspiracy theories that linked his serious medical emergency to none other than Sean "Diddy" Combs.
If you missed it, in April 2023, Foxx suffered a "brain bleed that led to a stroke" and was left with no memory of 20 days of his life.
But instead of focusing solely on the frightening medical details, Foxx brings his signature humour to the situation, discussing the conspiracy theories that emerged in the aftermath.
One of the standout parts of the special is when Foxx addresses the claims that spread like wildfire on social media. Some people suggested that Diddy, his long-time friend and music mogul, might have had something to do with it — allegedly trying to "kill" him.
The rumour mill started spinning after Choke No Joke, a producer and director, made some shocking statements during an interview with Comedy Hype. He claimed that Foxx had revealed to him that Diddy poisoned him, leading to the stroke.
Joe Rogan, the host of “The Joe Rogan Experience”, picked up on this theory and gave it even more attention. During a November episode, Rogan shared the supposed "details" with his audience.
"Jamie Foxx just recently said that P. Diddy poisoned him and that’s why he got that stroke … Diddy wasn’t even that big. It was murders ... There’s alleged murders.
“There’s a bunch of people that got pneumonia, a bunch of convenient people that died of pneumonia,“ Rogan said.
Foxx, however, made it clear he didn’t subscribe to these wild allegations in his comedy special.
“The internet said Puffy was trying to kill me, that’s what the internet was saying. I know what you thinking, ‘Diddy? (Did he?)’ Hell no, I left them parties early. I was out by 9, something don’t look right. It’s slippery in here.”
