Durban — At just 10 years old, Lusanda Mabaso from uMlazi is making waves not just for her aspirations as a finalist in the Miss Superior Queen pageant, but for the profound lessons she has embraced along her journey.

With her heart set on more than just the crown, Lusanda sees every step on the runway as an opportunity to grow in confidence, self-respect, and kindness. Since she first stepped into the world of modelling last year, Lusanda has developed a passion that transcends the merely superficial aspects of the industry.

“Being a top model is not my only desire,” she emphasised.

Instead, her focus is on cultivating the invaluable qualities that continue to shape her character as she prepares to strut her stuff once more on December 7, at the Bat Centre in Durban.

Lusanda's modelling journey took a significant turn this past June when she first walked the runway and was crowned the Queen of her pageant. She said this pivotal moment reaffirmed her love for the craft, highlighting her commitment to not only perfecting her runway walk but also to embodying the values that pageantry represents.

Lusanda said she loves modelling because it allows her to dress up in beautiful dresses.

“I am ready to walk and come back victorious in the pageant,” she said.

Lusanda said she applies diligence to both her modelling career and her academics. With support from her family, she manages to balance all her responsibilities.

Looking to the future, Lusanda has ambitious dreams beyond the runway, she envisions a career as a water engineer, committed to addressing South Africa's pressing issues with water and electricity shortages.

The reigning Miss uMgababa Junior 2024 Top Model, urged people to vote for her on KZN Models Awards.
